Decision making
How do we decide where the nets should go and with which Distribution Partners we should work?
We have contact with organisations with as yet unfunded distribution proposals. They submit a proposal to us via a detailed questionnaire. Our Malaria Advisory Group is made up of some very experienced malaria people who assess the distribution proposal on the basis of
- Is the Distribution Partner credible and does it have a successful track record in bednet distribution programmes?
- Does the Distribution Partner have the resources in place to carry out this proposal, as well as conducting post-distribution activities.
- Does the distribution programme target vulnerable groups and will it therefore have impact?
You can see completed forms attached to each distribution.
What happens next?
We ask all distribution partners to sign a legal agreement.
This has three key elements:
- We ask Distribution Partners to provide us with photographic and video evidence the distribution has occurred and a written post-distribution report.
- We ask the Distribution Partners to perform post-distribution surveys at set intervals over the following 3 years.
- If the nets were not to be delivered for some reason, we get our (your) money back.
We publish all of this documentation, including shipping and supplementary documents, for each distribution.
Fundraising partnerships
We also work with groups raising funds for bednets for their own distribution programmes. A group can set up one or more online fundraising pages and 100% of the money raised (online or offline) via those pages will be ringfenced to buy long-lasting insecticidal nets for that group to distribute. Every distribution still needs to go through the procedures detailed above. More details can be found on the fundraising partnerships page.
How do we achieve 100% of all money received buying nets?
We can achieve this as we have more than 100 companies around the world helping us pro bono (technology support, accounting support, banking etc). The few costs we do have are covered by a group of private donors. Our distribution partners pay for distribution. We hope you will agree this achieves maximum efficiency in use of your money.
This ensures we deliver on our simple promise:
- 100% of the money buys nets
- and the nets are put over heads and beds
- and we demonstrate that has happened with photos, video and documentation
