LLINs

The insecticide is cleverly bound within the fibres that make up the netting and is 'slow released' over a 4-5 year period. Hence 'long lasting'.

Pre-distribution information

The nets will be distributed to 4 boarding schol in and around Nyamuswa. Unlike in some western countries, these boarding schools have students from very poor families. The nets will be given to the school so those boarding in this and subsequent years will be protected when they sleep at night.

The distribution will be carried out by a locally based health organisation, ZDIF, in partnership with AMREF.

Follow-up surveys

These take place 6, 18, 30 and 42 months post-distribution. A survey of 50 households provides sample information on what proportion of nets continue to be used, if they are used correctly and the state of the nets.
