Distributed by Baraka Community Partnership

Baraka Community Partnerships (BCP) is a British charitable foundation set up in 2007 by a few private sponsors. Our focus is on assisting a few small, impoverished communities at a time to give themselves a better life. Our approach is one of collaboration with the communities we work with and our ultimate goal is long-term sustainability and self-sufficiency through education, healthcare, environmental protection and support of small businesses.

LLINs

What is a Long-Lasting Insecticidal Net (LLIN)?

An LLIN is a mosquito net impregnated with insecticide.

The insecticide is cleverly bound within the fibres that make up the netting and is 'slow released' over a 4-5 year period. Hence 'long lasting'.

This distribution was the 2nd of 3 phases to distribute nets over the entire district of Chikumbi to ensure all 13 villages had every sleeping space covered in a fight to eradicate or drastically reduce the impact of Malaria. Each of the 3 villages had provided a census of their population and their sleeping spaces.

Malaria is a huge problem in Chikumbi and there is little or no support in the prevention or cure phase of the disease. Few people can afford nets and or the drugs to treat malaria.
