FAWCO
FAWCO clubs – get ready to jump in the water! We invite all 18,000 members,
as well as their spouses, colleagues, kids, friends, kids’ friends and classmates,
to be part of the FAWCO tidal wave of swimmers. Let’s get alongside everyone else
around the globe who will be in the water -- doing the crawl, breaststroke, backstroke,
butterfly (well, maybe some teenagers will be doing the butterfly) floating, or
even dog paddling -- for World Swim Against Malaria.
The World Swim Against Malaria team has made it incredibly easy for your club to
register a swim, organize swimmers, and send in the money you raise. See for yourself:
start by clicking on Get Involved!
To begin thinking about the myriad ways to organize a swim, check out our swims.
Organizers have even found ways to do it that don't require anyone getting wet --
see if you can discover the group swimming in words of poetry and the one
netting in money with old handbags. Imagination is just as key as buoyancy
in FAWCO's efforts to pool together.
In a hurry to get going? -- sprint right to FAQ. If, however,
you need any convincing how critical the fight against malaria is, visit
About Malaria. (7 jumbo jets full of children disappear from malaria every
day in Africa.) If you have any doubts about World Swim Against Malaria’s credentials
or how much of the money your swimmers raise will go to buying nets (100%), put
on your wetsuit and surf the Home page.
FAWCO’s participation with World Swim Against Malaria is an energetic idea coming
from FAWCO’s NetWorks initiative. NetWorks was created after the member organizations
agreed to band together in the battle against malaria in March 2005; its goal is
to raise $75,000 for the purchase of nets by FAWCO’s 75th anniversary, March 2006.
