What is a Long-Lasting Insecticidal Net (LLIN)?

An LLIN is a mosquito net impregnated with insecticide.

The insecticide is cleverly bound within the fibres that make up the netting and is 'slow released' over a 4-5 year period. Hence 'long lasting'.

Malaria is endemic in Liberia. It is the single largest cause of illness in the country, especially among the under 5's and pregnant women.

10,000 nets will be distributed in 37 commmunities across 5 counties: Margibi 3,000; Bong 2,600, Nimba 1,640; Grand Bassa 2,400; Montserado 360.
