English Schools Swimming Association (ESSA)

“It is highly appropriate that many children will be participating in World Swim For Malaria given 70% of the deaths from malaria are children under 5.

As one of our school swimmers commented recently ‘In the time it takes me to swim a length of a 25m pool a child dies of malaria in Africa.’

Given our involvement with swimming and schools over the last 55 years we were delighted to bring World Swim Against Malaria to the attention of our schools and even more delighted with the response. We will have schools up and down the country swimming.

We will also play our part in spreading the word by contacting other national schools swimming organisations with which we have contact.

All of us connected with the ESSA are very pleased to be involved.”

John Stiven, General Secretary, ESSA
