UK Schools (NAHT)
The National Association of Head Teachers represents 30,000 head, deputy and assistant
head teachers in approximately 22,000 schools in the UK.
When we became aware of World Swim Against Malaria we sent a note to some of our
members asking if they would like their schools to be involved.
Some 60 schools said yes straightaway promising between 4-5,000 people swimming.
Over the coming weeks and months we expect many more schools will choose to be involved
and become part of this simple yet powerful global initiative.
Given 70% of the deaths from malaria each year are children under 5 it is very appropriate
many schoolchildren take part in World Swim Against Malaria.
Even some of the head teachers have promised to pull on their swimming costumes
and take part.
