The Gambia Malaria Initiative

Nearly everyone in The Gambia in inflicted with malaria at some point in their life. Since I arrived here, the children of three people I know have died from this disease. 40% of all hospital admissions here are for malaria. It is now curable (but only if you can get the medicine), and more imporant, PREVENTABLE. The most dangerous time is in the hot, rainy season, while you sleep, when the mosquitoes come out en masse. more >>
