What is a Long-Lasting Insecticidal Net (LLIN)?

An LLIN is a mosquito net impregnated with insecticide.

The insecticide is cleverly bound within the fibres that make up the netting and is 'slow released' over a 4-5 year period. Hence 'long lasting'.

These 2,500 nets are part of a 12,000 net distribution in 4 locations which is itself part of a 500,000 net distribution programme in Zambia being managed by World Vision/RAPIDS.

Mwinilunga is a high risk malaria area in the Solwezi district.

Malaria is the number one cause of mortality and morbidity (illness) in children under five.
