Hi all!

As an MSc Public Health student at LSHTM, (one-time) avid swimmer, and eternal despiser of mosquitoes, I will be swimming 1km on Dec 2 to raise money for malaria prevention.

Over 1 million people die from malaria each year, 70% of whom are children. The single most effective way of preventing malaria is to sleep under a long-lasting mosquito net.

World Swim for Malaria is really exciting because it aims to get 1 million people around the world to take part in a fundraising swim, and even better yet, 100% of the money raised goes DIRECTLY to buying bednets!

It costs just $5 for an insecticide treated bednet, so any amount, no matter how small, makes a difference.
