Malaria is "No Fun" (think "the FLU from HELL") under the best of circumstances, and often deadly under normal circumstances.
When I had malaria, I was blessed to be living at a mission hospital complete with a lab for testing, and ready medication for treating. Most people in malarial zones do not have these perks. Many die. Most of those who die are children.
If we can easily prevent the death of countless lives by giving up one mocha or one movie or one trip to the Mall, how could we not do that?
