When I was younger, I used to get mosquito bites every now and then. My grandmother would burn mosquito coils and while they were somewhat effective, the bites were unavoidable. Luckily for my grandmother and I, the bites were no more consequential than a few days of itch. For more than 200M people a year, however, the bites infect them with malaria and they either fall ill or die.
