Ethics may be complicated, but saving lives is not!

Malaria claims around 400,000 lives each year. 96% of deaths occur in Africa, and four out of five victims are children under five. More than three hundred thousand children die, despite malaria deaths being preventable. Sleeping under an insecticide-treated net is one the most effective ways to prevent malaria. Even though more people at risk of malaria have access to this prevention tool than ever before, big gaps in coverage remain, especially in Africa. (Source: WHO)

The Against Malaria Foundation has been rated as one of the most effective charities in the world by independent charity evaluators year after year since 2008. A net costs around US$2. Every two dollars spent on a malaria net is estimated to increase the GDP of the receiving country by around US$25, more than twelvefold. Malaria nets have saved hundreds of thousands of lives and prevented hundreds of millions of malaria cases since 2000. (Source: GiveWell).
