Thank you, Riley, for bringing attention to this important cause. I was made aware of the life threatening disease of malaria when living in Nigeria where I contracted ‘cyclical malaria’ which resulted in recurring symptoms for years rendering me permanently ineligible to donate blood. Malaria is a serious world-wide disease (282 million reported cases in 2024 by the World Health Organization) and deserves our attention and action.
