Distributed by PCV

The Peace Corps traces its roots and mission to 1960, when then Senator John F. Kennedy challenged students at the University of Michigan to serve their country in the cause of peace by living and working in developing countries. From that inspiration grew an agency of the federal government devoted to world peace and friendship.

LLINs

What is a Long-Lasting Insecticidal Net (LLIN)?

An LLIN is a mosquito net impregnated with insecticide.

The insecticide is cleverly bound within the fibres that make up the netting and is 'slow released' over a 4-5 year period. Hence 'long lasting'.

Wuli District, Gambia

Nets: 2,100 LLINs
When: Feb-Aug 10
Distributed by  PCV    PCV

Malaria is a big problem in The Gambia.

6 related distributions will take place in Wuli District in the far east of the country. It is among the most remote ('up-country') areas of The Gambia. Some 38,000 people live in 87 villages in the district.

The region has poor access to the regional and national health infrastructure and has not had a bednet distribution in at least the last few years.
