What is a Long-Lasting Insecticidal Net (LLIN)?

An LLIN is a mosquito net impregnated with insecticide.

The insecticide is cleverly bound within the fibres that make up the netting and is 'slow released' over a 4-5 year period. Hence 'long lasting'.

Malaria is holoendemic in Malindi District and is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in Malindi. Over 80% of children aged 2-9 years have malaria.

Five sub-locations, Shella, Barani, Central, Kijiwetanga and Sabaki, will receive on average 800 LLINs each.
