Kasaï Occidental 2014, Congo (Dem. Rep.)
Summary
Nets were distributed in eight Health Zones in Kasaï Occidental (Western Kasaï) to achieve universal coverage (all sleeping spaces covered) across a population of some 1.3 million people. This was the first stage of a two stage net distribution approach that has the specific objective of maintaining sleeping space coverage at or above 80% for a period of four years.
The second stage will involve continuous monitoring of net use and condition, and also net gaps, with additional net distribution as appropriate via 'routine distribution' mechanisms. In addition, 6,000 nets were distributed to cover all hospital and maternity beds across all health facilities in the eight Health Zones.

Post-distribution
The two objectives of post-distribution activity are i) to monitor and report on
the continued use of the nets (achieved via six-monthly Post-Distribution net use
and condition Check-Ups (PDCUs) which collect data from 5% of the households, randomly
selected and visited unannounced, that received nets during the distribution) and
ii) to assess the impact in terms of reduced malaria to which the nets contribute
(achieved via monthly malaria case rate and mortality data, received quarterly).

Summary
- Lack of clarity in the questionnaire meant some records had inconsistent data and were discarded from analysis
