Pre-swim:

It was a freezing, winter’s morning back in October 1986 when I first experienced water. Before that momentous day, I had feared the mysterious clear liquid that some call H2O. Frightened by its baffling ability to drown the casual swimmer, I hesitated when dipping into that historic pond in Slough for the first time. Mother and Father lovingly encouraged me with idle threats of violence and starvation but after a short, teasing acquaintance with my foot and the murky waters, I was given a much needed and slightly sadistic shove to jump start my now highly respected, award winning swimming career. more >>
