LLINs

What is a Long-Lasting Insecticidal Net (LLIN)?

An LLIN is a mosquito net impregnated with insecticide.

The insecticide is cleverly bound within the fibres that make up the netting and is 'slow released' over a 4-5 year period. Hence 'long lasting'.

Gatumba has a population of 25,000 and is located in a malaria endemic region. 1,500 cases of malaria are reported per month. 90% of children under 2 do not sleep under a bednet. Gatumba does not have a hospital.

The 10,000 LLINs that comprise the Gatumba distribution will ensure blanket coverage of the village in one go.
