Oh god oh fuck the charity drive ended more than a week ago? oops.Anyways, we create a better future for our children, not only the children of our locales', or of our own countries, but of humanity at large. It's why I make my living as an educator. And it's why I want to chip in a few days' worth of my own pay. If the life of a single child may be saved by my donation of a few days' pay, then I have accomplished more for humanity than I could hope to accomplish through a year of my work.I am not "rich". At least not by the standards of Americans. But I still enjoy far greater privilege than the average human, and what is but a modest sacrifice for me can be the difference between life and death, then who the fuck am I not to make that sacrifice? I did not earn the right to prioritize the size of my apartment over the life of a child just because I was born in America. Square footage is nothing; life is everything.
