What is a Long-Lasting Insecticidal Net (LLIN)?

An LLIN is a mosquito net impregnated with insecticide.

The insecticide is cleverly bound within the fibres that make up the netting and is 'slow released' over a 4-5 year period. Hence 'long lasting'.

In the Gambia, malaria is one of the leading causes of morbidity (illness) and mortality, especially among children under 5's and pregnant women.

The North Bank Region is a rural area with farming. The inhabitants are local farmers. The target villages are amongst the most underserved areas in the country.
