What is a Long-Lasting Insecticidal Net (LLIN)?

An LLIN is a mosquito net impregnated with insecticide.

The insecticide is cleverly bound within the fibres that make up the netting and is 'slow released' over a 4-5 year period. Hence 'long lasting'.

Malaria is a significant problem in Malawi. Phalombe District is no exception: in 2009 there were 160,000 recorded cases of malaria.

27 villages in Phalombe District, specifically in Kaduya TA, will receive 9,600 nets to achieve blanket coverage of all sleeping spaces.
